Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I’m very happy to have been granted the opportunity to run the 2024 London Marathon for St. Christopher’s Hospice in memory of my Mum and Dad.
As you may know, sadly my Dad passed away May 10th 2023 5 months from diagnosis of stage 4 bowel cancer. Due to the complications Dad encountered St. Christopher had little involvement past visiting the house to inform us that Dad’s time was coming to an end.
However, Dad had been pleased to hear I’d applied to run the London Marathon for St. Christopher’s Hospice as we’d only been involved in a few of their Candle Projects in the past and I’ve been wanting to participate in a larger event for them for a while now.
During Dad’s last few months we spoke more about what my Mum had gone through when she had skin cancer.
He told me of how they’d been trying to manage Mum’s pain at home as she dreaded the idea of moving into the hospice but when she did she couldn’t understand why she hadn’t sooner. With this St Christopher’s staff was able to manage her pain long enough to grant her the wish of seeing my first Christmas.
I will always be grateful for all they did for my Mum and Dad and I’d appreciate it if you could help me in raising for them so they can continue to help others make the worst of circumstances more bearable.
