Story

On Saturday 27th June, myself, Amy, Sarah and Nikki will be taking part in the Light the Night 8k walk through Lichfield to raise funds for St Giles Hospice.

This is a cause very close to our hearts. At the beginning of the year, Amy needed support from St Giles Hospice after months of struggling with severe back pain caused by the side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The pain had become so debilitating that she relied on a wheelchair every day and could barely move around the house.

Amy spent 3 weeks at the Hospice and in that time, she received exceptional round-the-clock care and support. Not only did the team work hard to find the right combination of medication to bring her pain under control, but they also offered emotional support to her family.

Before this experience, I have to admit I was unaware of the full range of services St Giles Hospice provides, including respite care, symptom management, rehabilitation and the level of emotional and physical support they provide the individual and their families.

Each time we visited, we were made to feel welcome and we left knowing that Amy was receiving the best care by a team of dedicated, compassionate and professional people.

I am proud to support this cause and I hope that you can too.

If you are able to donate - even a little - to our fundraiser we will really appreciate it, but if you can't, just sharing this post will help so much ❤️
