Lands End to John O'Groats 10-day cycle challenge - 95 miles a day for 10 days, 13 July 2023
We have provided thousands of much-needed on-the-water and classroom training to pupils from local Isle of Wight primary schools over the past few years. All for free. We would like to extend this provision to get more island children into boats!

Story

The schools programme is entirely funded through charitable donations. Organisations and individuals both on the Isle of Wight and the mainland have seen the difference this programme is making to its participants and generously supported the programme. Donors range from SVYC members, local Seaview businesses to national organisations and charities such as Sir Ben Ainslies charity 1851.

We are hugely grateful to all the funders who allow us to operate this programme in a part of the country with some of the weakest educational outcomes.

The Trust has delivered thousands of free sailing lessons to Isle of Wight primary school children. They arrive never having been in a sailing boat, but leave with their RYA Level 1 or 2! We help children develop their skills and self-confidence, and in some cases change their life forever.
