Story
On Sunday 26th April 2026, I will be running the London Marathon in support for St Catherine's Hospice and my step-mum Wendy!
As some may know in September 2024 Wendy was diagnosed with stage 3 triple negative inflammatory breast cancer. Following this devastating diagnosis she began receiving treatment for it and fighting back. Following chemotherapy, immunotherapy and surgery, Wendy was given the all clear in April 2025, which was the most amazing news.
Sadly, however a few weeks later Wendy was found to have metastatic brain cancer, and only given a few months maybe even weeks to live, which was a huge shock to all of us. Thankfully at the moment Wendy is receiving more treatment to be able to give her to most time possible to spend with all those she loves and doing the things she loves most and ticking off all those items on the bucket list!
St Catherine's have been providing palliative support and will provide end-of-life-care to Wendy. They have been so kind and helpful to Wendy, and us as a family, and they continue to just be a phenomenal pillar of support for us all. Having been involved first hand with the support a hospice can offer has shown me the importance of helping them stay running! At the moment they are only about to open half their beds and have had to cut back the services they offer (such as respite care) due to the lack of sustainable, ongoing funding. It's a tragedy as they could be helping so many more families.
As they rely on donations to be able to give end of life care to those who need it, raising as much money and awareness as possible to help St Catherine's continue to help other family's like ours in these difficult times is extremely important.
I am not 'runner' but this is why I am running London Marathon. To help St Catherine's give to other family's what they have and are doing for us! Any donations are greatly appreciated to help me get to my fundraising goal!
As I have never run a marathon before this will be a very large goal to achieve as 42K is no easy run! Thank you so much from Tati, Wendy and St Catherine's.
