Wendy Martin's team fundraising to support St Catherine’s Hospice (Crawley)

Raising money for St Catherine’s Hospice (Crawley)

On Sunday 26th April 2026, our runners will be pounding the iconic streets of London to raise vital funds for St Catherine's Hospice.

Story

My fabulous family are supporting me to raise funds for St. Catherine's Hospice in Pease Pottage by doing some full-on challenges.

My lovely step-daughter Tati is tacking the London Marathon in 2026 to so she would hugely appreciate your sponsorship too (rather her than me!!).

And my gorgeous Oscar is doing a skydive at the end of November to raise funds as well (again, way braver than me!).

Our accounts are linked so any donation you are kind enough to give will be linked to my name too. Thank you so much everyone for the waves of love and support and cheerleading.

Just as a background, asmany of you know, after seemingly getting the all clear for my aggressive Inflammatory Triple Negative Breast Cancer, just three weeks later I got the news it had metastasised to my brain. I had 15 tumors in my first MRI.

It's a terminal diagnosis which means I just have (probably at best) a few months to live.

It has been a huge shock for us all, but I remain grateful that I have lived a happy, full, joyous life. A life full of wonderful family, friends, colleagues, people and experiences.

St Catherine's https://www.stch.org.uk/ is our FANTASTIC local hospice who are already taking care of me palliatively and will look after me when it's my time to go. I cannot tell you how fabulous they are but they are SO underfunded. They get just over 20% funding from the government. Everything else has to be fundraised or donated. It's purpose built and gorgeous and they have 24 beds, but can only use 12 because of funding. It's a travesty.

The outpouring of kindness and generosity from all of my network has been overwhelming. Thank you!! I don't need gifts or flowers - I have everything I need and more. So please if you feel you'd like to help, the thing that would make me most happy is to know that St. Catherine's are getting your support via me or the kids, and will get your support (instead of flowers etc) when I'm gone.

Loads of love

Wendy xxxx
