Story

Hello! This October, I'll be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in support of the Rory Peck Trust — a vital charity dedicated to supporting the safety and welfare of freelance journalists worldwide.

WHY I'M RUNNING

This will be my seventh (!) half marathon, but my first running for such a great cause. While I've always had the privilege of working for large and well-equipped news organizations that can provide for my safety and well being, the same cannot be said for freelancer journalists, many of whom take great risks to bring us stories that the world needs to hear.

That's where the Rory Peck Trust comes in.

The charity exists to protect freelance journalists globally, providing safety training, professional psychological support, and critical financial assistance through their Safety Training, Therapy, and Crisis Funds. The Rory Peck Trust is committed to supporting and protecting freelance journalists who provide a vital contribution to international newsgathering and uphold our democratic freedoms.

If you're in a position to chip in a pound or two, I'd be so grateful for your support!
