    What?

On Friday, 5 October, an EII team comprising Joanne Jeffreys, Katherine Chappell, Peter Vivian and Ben Grouse will take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge - Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough (24 miles (38.6km) / 1585m (5200ft) of ascent) in under 12 hours

    Why?

Tyler Reader was a friend of Ben's Son, Sebastian.  They used to play football together and would sit at the end of their Little Kickers lessons joking and sharing each others' snacks while their Dads predicted the weekend's football scores.  Tyler was an incredibly engaging, kind and friendly little boy who would always make people smile.

In November 2015, at just under three years old, Tyler was admitted to Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) with an aggressive form of group A streptococcus and developed Sepsis.

Despite the efforts of the incredible team at GOSH, Tyler's little body couldn’t keep battling. It gave up after his sixth cardiac arrest, just as the team were preparing him for a heart and lung bypass.

Tyler’s memory and the joy he brought to so many lives on through his family and friends in the work they do for the Tyler Reader Brighter Future Fund.

The Tyler Reader Brighter Future FundThe aim of the fund is (i) to create a lasting legacy for Tyler by raising funds to help buy equipment to support the Children’s Acute Transport Service, or CATS team, who run an intensive care unit on wheels, transporting the sickest children from local hospitals to specialist children’s hospitals where they can receive the very best care, and (ii) continuing to work alongside GOSH and The UK Sepsis Trust to help raise the awareness levels of Sepsis within the UK and what symptoms to look out for both in young children, like Tyler, and in adults.

Following the overwhelming success of Tyler’s Playtime Ball, the 1 Tyler Reader Charity Ball, which was held on Saturday 12 November 2016 at The Conservatory at Luton Hoo’s Walled Garden and raised £22,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital, planning is underway for the 2 Tyler Reader Charity Ball and we are seeking your support to help make this as successful as last year’s Ball.

Tyler's Wonderland is a Black Tie Charity Ball which will be held on Saturday 11November 2017 to raise funds for The Tyler Reader Brighter Future Fund, which supports Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

On the 6th November 2015 at 34 months old, Tyler Reader suddenly passed away after developing Sepsis following what appeared to be a normal chest infection. Tyler suffered 6 cardiac arrests during his 8 hours in hospital care, passing away shortly before a heart-lung bypass could be performed.

Money raised on the evening will help contribute towards our initial fundraising total of £79,500, which will help provide Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Children’s Acute Transport Service with some of
the vital equipment and training that they require in order to help treat
severe cases like that of Tyler.

It would be greatly appreciated if you are able to help support the event.

Should you wish to attend the evening then tickets can be bought at https://tylerreader.org/2017-charity-ball/

The ADS department have put together an incredible team to compete in this year's charity dragon boat tournament organised by BGL.

The event is being held at the Peterborough City Rowing Club on Saturday 2nd September 2017. You are welcome to come along and help cheer us on at what is always a great day out for all the family!

We have called our team 'Another Dragon Slayed' and are competing to raise £1,000 for Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital in memory of Tyler and to promote The Tyler Reader Brighter Future Fund.

The Tyler Reader Brighter Future Fund's main objectives are to:

    - Work with GOSH and The UK Sepsis Trust to help raise awareness of Sepsis which kills a staggering 44,000 people in the UK every year - more than bowel, breast and prostate cancer combined.

    - Raise £79,000 for the Children's Acute Transport Service, or CATS team. These incredible people run an intensive care unit on wheels, transporting the sickest children from local hospitals to specialist children’s hospitals where they can receive the very best care.

All donations are hugely appreciated and will help make a massive difference to the lives of some very poorly children and their families.

    Thank you for your support!!

My brother-in-law Rob Mitchell will be running the Great North Run on Sunday 10 September.  I really wanted to do this run in memory of Tyler, but unfortunately due to injury I can't. Rob has kindly agreed to take my place.

Please donate generously in support of Rob's efforts but also in memory of a dear little boy and to show support to an amazing mother and friend, Lisa Reader.

The Team put in a fantastic effort last year during the run and also managed to raise just under £2,000. With your support they will be hoping to beat that this year!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am taking part in the challenge Roth . My first Ironman race and I like to dedicate my race to young Tylor who lost his fight against Sepsis.  Every year 44000 children are dying from Sepsis. My race is a total of 226 Km of swimming, cycling and running so I am trying to raise £10 for every Km of the race . I am however great full for every £ raised as it goes to Great Ormond Street Hospital to help many other families.

On Sunday the 28th May 2017 we will be running the Edinburgh Marathon to raise money for a charity that helps save thousands of young lives every year.

We have been training hard in all weathers to prepare ourselves for this grueling challenge and hope to complete the course in under four hours, fingers crossed!

We aim to raise as much money as possible for Great Ormond Street Hospital. We've picked this charity following attendance to Tyler's Playtime Ball in November 2016. Here we learnt about the story of a beautiful young boy called Tyler Reader.

In November 2015, Tyler Reader, a perfectly happy and healthy young boy, suddenly passed away, despite the best efforts of the team at GOS, after developing sepsis following what appeared to be a normal chest infection.

We hope people will donate, in memory of Tyler, to help prevent other children and families going through a similar experience and to continue to support the fantastic work of the team at GOS.

    Thank you,
    Jane and Sam.

    Our Story

On Sunday 12th June 2016, Team Tyler will be running the St Albans Half Marathon in memory of Tyler Stephen Reader who passed away on the 6th November 2015, aged 34 months.

Tyler was a beautiful, cheeky young Boy that went from being a perfectly healthy and happy toddler to losing his precious life in the space of 4 days after developing Sepsis following being diagnosed with a particularly aggressive strain of Group A Streptococcus. Tyler suffered 6 cardiac arrests during his 8 hours in hospital care, passing away shortly before a heart-lung bypass could be performed. Since his passing the Tyler Reader Brighter Future Fund has been set up to help raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital so that they can provide the necessary training and equipment to help with cases as severe as Tyler's.

What is Group A Streptococcus and Sepsis

Group A Streptococcus is a bacterium that can cause a wide range of infections. People may also carry it in the throat or on the skin and have no symptoms of illness. Most Strep infections are relatively mild illnesses such as 'strep throat' and impetigo, but occasionally these bacteria can cause severe and life-threatening illnesses.

Sepsis, also referred to as blood poisoning or septicaemia, is a potentially life threatening condition, triggered by an infection or injury. The body's immune system goes into overdrive as it tries to fight an infection which can reduce blood supply to vital organs such as the Heart, Brain, Lungs and Kidneys. Without quick treatment, sepsis can lead to multiple organ failure and death.

Sadly Tyler contracted both of these conditions and was unable to fight it off. He passed away on Friday 6th November 2015 at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

    Our Aims

In running the St Albans Half Marathon, we hope to raise a little money towards the Tyler Reader Brighter Future Fund, which already sits at an amazing £12,000.

We would very much appreciate your support in us reaching our target.

    Thank you.

Stephen Reader & the rest of Team Tyler.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.

I am going to be doing a 12,000ft skydive in August where I will be raising money for an amazing charity who help millions of children every year.

I am very scared but also very excited to be doing this skydive, I am doing this skydive to raise as much money as I can for GOSH, I am also doing my skydive in memory of a lovely little boy called Tyler who I had the pleasure of knowing but was sadly taken from us far too soon. His death has left such a big hole in so many lives, particularly those of his parents. A way for Tyler's family to cope with his death is to create a brighter future fund which aims to raise to say thank you to GOSH for the care and compassion they showed to Tyler and his family. I want to support Tyler's family with this so I have decided to face my fears and take on a skydive in his memory. I'd love to raise as much as I can for his brighter future fund and help Great Ormond Street.

He was a lovely little boy who was always really happy and had a lot of cheekiness in him, I have made lots of memories with him which I will never forget and he was a pleasure to be around, he taught me lots of new things and had a huge impact on the lives of everyone that knew him.

I will be doing a skydive on the 14th August, where I will be free-falling 12,000ft.

I thought I'd just put a paragraph from the original just giving page set up by Great Ormond Street to shine a bit of light on Tyler's story

Tyler was unfairly taken from us far too soon. He passed away from Group A Streptococcus, which usually causes things like tonsillitis or ear infection. Tyler was just so unlucky that it was an invasive strain and gave him septicaemia. Within the few hours Tyler was in their care, the team at Great Ormond Street did an amazing job and tried everything they could to keep his little heart beating. Despite their very best efforts, Tyler sadly left us on November 6th. We hope people will donate, in memory of Tyler, to help other children and families who may be or have been through a similar experience and to continue to support the fantastic work of the team at Great Ormond Street.

So far the page set up for Tyler has raised over £7000 showing just how much of an impact his short life of nearly 3 years impacted so many people and how so many of us no matter how long we knew him for still miss his cheeky face. We aren't doing this run to try and make ourselves look better or to feel better about ourselves we just want to show support to all those affected and raise money to help other families going through similar difficult circumstances.

Please donate as generously as you can, we haven't set a high target but one we hope we can achieve because as we said it isn't about the money for us or feeling good for raising quite a lot it's just to show our support and hopefully help families who will be in similar situations in the future. Thank you.
