Last year, I (Una) had an unfortunate accident in which I was knocked over by a car. I sustained fractures to my leg and my right hand. I was taken by ambulance to the Royal London Hospital where I was looked after. I was completely dependent on them, as I was bed bound initially. The trauma team were attentive to my needs, providing crucial support. After operations on my leg and hand, the team helped me to walk with a crutch. I was delighted to be discharged home after 2 weeks. I am very grateful to report that over this last year, great progress has been made, with the much needed guidance, wisdom and encouragement from consultants and physiotherapists, and loving support from family & friends. Thank God!

As it is approaching a year since the accident, I really feel I want to do something positive at this time, to give back in some small way to the medical team/institute that helped me. Therefore, I am organising a 10 mile Sponsored Walk, to raise funds for the orthopaedics (trauma related) ward & all orthopaedic departments at the Royal London Hospital. If you would like to sponsor me, that would be wonderful! If you would like to join me on the walk for moral support and raise funds also, you are more than welcome! You can choose 5 or 10 miles.

Meet 12.30pm at Ferry Boat Inn, Ferry Lane, London N17 9NG (10 min walk from Tottenham Hale station).

We will walk for 5 miles approximately along the River Lea to our halfway point.

Halfway point: The Navigation, Harvester pub, 4 Wharf Road, Ponders End, Enfield, EN3 4XX (7 min walk from Ponders End station). We will take a break. For those who are doing a 5 mile walk only-we wish you thanks & farewell here.

Those continuing to complete 10 miles, we will return the way we came, back towards Tottenham Hale, Ferry Boat Inn.
