It started with Harrison. Now it’s become something much bigger. 💛

When Harrison was diagnosed with spina bifida (myelomeningocele), our whole family’s world changed.

From the diagnosis, through fetal surgery, his premature arrival 10 weeks early, and the 9½ weeks we spent in the neonatal unit, we’ve never faced this journey alone. Every appointment, every setback, and every milestone has been shared by the people who love Harrison most.

That’s why this isn’t just my challenge anymore.

This October, myself, Harrison’s Grandad, his Uncle, and his cousins will all be taking on the Cardiff Half Marathon to raise money for Shine.

We’re running because we’ve seen first-hand how important Shine is. They’ve been there to support our family through some of the most difficult moments of our lives, and we know they’ll continue to be there for Harrison as he grows and faces whatever lies ahead.

Shine doesn’t just support individuals with spina bifida—they support entire families. They provide expert advice, reassurance, practical guidance, and a community that reminds you you’re never facing this journey on your own.

Every one of us is running for the same reason:

To give something back.

We’re running for Harrison.

We’re running for every baby diagnosed with spina bifida.

We’re running for every family who receives that life-changing news and needs someone to turn to.

This challenge is about more than crossing a finish line. It’s about making sure Shine can continue changing lives, just as they’ve already changed ours.
