Story
The “Cherrython” is a series of running challenges in loving memory of James Cherry, who passed away on the 18th July 2025 at just 52.
We've completed a half-marathon fun run on 14th March 26', and the Bristol 10km in May 26'. Alfie achieved his goal of bettering his Dad's last time of 52, and came in at just over 48 minutes.
These events have brings together our friends, family, and colleagues to celebrate James’s passion for life, running, his spirit of togetherness, shared stories and experiences, and his commitment to making a difference.
That certainly lives on in Alfie, James’s son - who was inspired to raise money in tribute to his Dad, and the reason why we’re doing the Cherrython.
Together, every step will honour James’s memory and will raise crucial funds for St Peter’s Hospice, supporting Alfie on his fundraising quest.
St Peter’s Hospice has only 20% of its costs covered by the NHS - they need these crucial funds raised by supporters like you. So please dig deep...
*** UPDATE ***
We've done so well to smash our original tribute of £5252 representing the age that James passed and the last time he finished the Bristol 10km of 52 minutes that we've decided on a new ambitious target of £15,052. We're keeping the poignant 52, but we also have a new motivation...
Cuddle beds are specialised, expandable palliative care beds costing ~£15,000, that allow terminally ill patients to lie side-by-side with partners or family members. These beds provide comfort, intimacy, and normalcy at the end of life, enabling patients to share, hold, or sleep with loved ones.
