Story
Hello! We're fundraising for CANCER RESEARCH UK and ALZHEIMER'S SOCIETY
The Event
Come to our Charity Live Music Event at Ye Olde Rose & Crown, London E17 on Saturday 13th April 2024
While entry is completely FREE, we'll be passing the collection bucket round to raise as much money as we can. All proceeds go to our two charities.
We'd be very grateful if you could help us reach our target by making a donation (however small) through this page, or putting whatever you can spare in the collection bucket on the day - the old school way!
Thank you so much.

The Charities
CANCER RESEARCH UK is close to our hearts as our wonderful saxophone player Phil was recently diagnosed with bowel cancer. This came as a huge shock to us, as he is such a force of nature. His treatment is going well thankfully and he'll be joining us on sax duty at our event. It is also fitting that we hold our fundraiser at The Rose & Crown, as very sadly our friend Viv Barrett landlady of the pub died from brain cancer in 2022.
Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer, with around 375,000 new cancer cases in the UK every year. Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research, influence and information. We support research into all aspects of cancer through the work of over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses. This pioneering work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer has helped save millions of lives.
ALZHEIMER'S SOCIETY is another charity close to our hearts. Our drummer Mez: "My dear dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2016. He's doing well overall, but needs more and more help and support with everyday tasks as his condition deteriorates. Dementia is a cruel disease which irreversibly changes the lives of people with the illness and those around them".
Dementia is now the leading cause of death in the UK and many other places around the world. There is currently no cure. Alzheimer’s Society are working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. They do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future.
