I signed up to this Ironman in Italy almost 2 years ago when Harvey (my son) then 17 was very ill in hospital with ulcerative colitis and ended up having his colon removed and a stoma fitted. He announced that he was doing an Ironman and I was going to do it with him. We couldn't do Italy last year due to Covid-19 but did our own DIY one. This year it is time for me to go solo (as Harvey will be at Uni) and do the real one in Italy. I have been training hard but what has kept me going is not only seeing Harvey's determination but also my friends who have been treated for cancer at Ipswich hospital on the Woolverstone ward. They are all a true inspiration.
