Raising money for Aspire

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

We are six endurance outdoor swimmers who train together at Jesus Green lido in Cambridge. Swimming binds our friendship together. On 1 August, we became the first Aspire team to swim Loch Ness north to south (Lochend to Fort Augustus) and the first one to do so through the night. Our time was 13h 26m. We stuck to the rules: hourly rotations, swimsuits only, no neoprene. Dirk is our team mentor. His challenge this year is swimming around Manhattan.
