Story

Team Jones Fantastic Update!

A huge big thank you to everyone who has donated to our fundraiser. Th total is currently over £2000! Double our original target.

We are so grateful for all the support of many friends and family members. And we had such a good time on the walk, despite the mix of weather that we experienced - sunshine, as well as our share of torrential rain and wind . The grandkids didn't seem to mind the weather as they manoeuvred their scooters around the route and in among Glasgow's Saturday shoppers!

17 of us set out from Glasgow Green on Saturday morning, most of us to walk 5k around the streets of central Glasgow, while Andrew set off for the West End of the city and beyond to complete an impressive 20k.

We had two aims in organising ourselves for the walk. Firstly, to raise much needed funds for the MS Society. Every penny we have raised, thanks to our supporters, will go towards research into the insidious illness that is Multiple Sclerosis; and to supporting the thousands worldwide whose lives are impacted by the disease.

Our second objective was to support Owen in the challenge of the walk and to do this around the time of his 70th birthday. He more than rose to the challenge walking the entire 5k in all sorts of weather and contending, not only with the issues caused by MS, but with a flare up of sciatica. We had borrowed a wheelchair in case he was unable to complete the route under hos own steam but he treated it with some disdain and determinedly pushed the chair around the course! It was a very proud moment when our Team was cheered across the finish line with Owen leading the way!

We are walking, rolling or strolling at MS Walk 2025 to help stop MS.

MS is an unpredictable and incurable condition that affects people's nervous systems. It can attack suddenly or progress steadily, bringing a range of symptoms which can include sight loss, incontinence, fatigue and mobility problems. No-one with MS can be sure when or how it will affect them next.

Let's hope it doesn't hit Owen's mobility during the walk or he might have to be carried!

Your donations will go towards life-changing MS research. Thank you!
