Story

The Big Ride for Palestine is an annual charity bike ride, that uses cycling as a mechanism to inform people and show solidarity with our Palestinian brothers and sisters. This year, alongside our ongoing annual support for the Middle East Children's Alliance (MECA), we are again teaming up with the Amos Trust to support an incredible cause. We would like to send a cycling team from Gaza to the Paralympics in France in 2024. By becoming backers of the Gaza Sunbird team, you can help us get this project off to a flying start.

A message from the Sunbirds:

We are the Gaza Sunbirds, a team of paracyclists from the heart of the Gaza Strip. Our team is composed of extraordinary individuals who have faced the ravages of war and have emerged with an unyielding spirit and a shared dream - to represent Palestine on the global stage.

Cycling, for us, goes beyond being a mere sport. It's a testament to our resilience, a celebration of our abilities, and a symbol of hope in times of despair. It's our chance to share our stories with the world, to inspire, and to proudly wave the Palestinian flag on a global stage. However, the realities of our situation present us with immense challenges that threaten this dream.

Today, we are reaching out to you for support. We need your help to keep our wheels spinning and to keep our Paralympic dream alive.

Your generous contributions will be used to:

Equipment: To purchase and maintain specially adapted bicycles that suit the unique needs of our riders. These bikes are critical in enabling us to compete safely and effectively.

Support Training: To provide proper training facilities and professional coaching. This is vital for our team to reach and maintain a competitive standard.

Cover Race Expenses: To manage the expenses related to participating in regional and international events, including travel, accommodation, and logistics. This exposure is vital for our riders and for our dream of reaching the Paralympics.

Community Impact: To fund outreach programs that promote paracycling among the differently-abled population of Gaza, offering them a path towards physical health, self-expression, and community integration.

To the Big Ride for Palestine and all their wonderful followers, we cannot express our gratitude enough for your incredible fundraising efforts on our behalf. A major thank you to the Big Ride for Palestine and Amos Trust for your unwavering support. You are not just raising funds for our cause, but are also amplifying our story and bringing it to the attention of a global audience. Each penny raised and every word shared about our journey brings us one step closer to our shared dream of flying the Palestinian flag in the Paralympics.
