Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving pages.
I've created 'Team Jamie' on Just Giving in memory of my husband Jamie Normington, who died from pancreatic cancer in April 2025.
Jamie was the most interesting husband I could wish for. He made me laugh, took me out for adventures, he was my librarian, my walking encyclopaedia, my chef, my best friend and my rock. He made me mad at times re-stacking the dishwasher and banging pans in the kitchen but I always forgave him because he was the love of my life.
I met Jamie in Poland in 1994. I never planned to leave my country but fell in love with this charming, funny, Englishman full of an infectious zest for life and spent the most fascinating (never boring!) 30 years of my life with him living all over the UK and travelling the world.
Jamie was also a mischievous, loving and unique son, brother, uncle and a friend. He was always there if anyone needed him.
For the past 15 years Jamie worked tirelessly in conservation for Cumbria Wildlife Trust. During his life he raised funds for a range of good causes and charities. So it seems fitting to give his many friends the opportunity to continue his altruism in his memory.
Jamie was a uniquely talented naturalist, conservationist, educator and campaigner. Jamie would never describe himself as a writer, but he had a unique talent with words.
In 2019 Jamie went for a 200-mile walk to raise money for 200 'Lost Words' books to give to 200 primary schools in Cumbria, and he beautifully captured this adventure, in his blog https://200milesofskylarks.wordpress.com/
His dear friend Amy Jane Beer has written: "Jamie often managed to be idiosyncratic, insightful, sometimes profound, and often spit-your-tea funny. Those same qualities made him a superb teacher, mentor, interviewer and compere for Cumbria Wildlife Trust and Kendal Mountain Festival, both of which will be immeasurably depleted by his loss."
Help us honour Jamie's memory by contributing to one of the charity fundraising pages associated with this Team page. You have the option of helping "Jamie's Fund" for Cumbria Wildlife Trust, or donating to Pancreatic Cancer UK. More details of each fund can be found on each of the individual pages.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. It's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thank you for your generosity and support for these truly important causes.
