Story
On the 26th April fourteen of us are taking part in the Maldon Mud Run. This is arguably one of the UK’s most unusual events, consisting of several hundred runners partaking in an epic dash across the “mud plain” of the River Blackwater in Essex. Hindered by fancy dress we will be running, crawling and squirming our way around watched by up to 20000 spectators, desperate to avoid the humiliation of having to be rescued by boat (a fate that befell four runners last year as the tide came in).
Why would we willingly dive into the mud and push our limits in the Maldon Mud Race? Well it’s about the banter but more importantly raising some money for some causes that truly matter.
These include Great Ormond Street Hospital, the Daniel Wilkinson Foundation which aids research into Sudden Cardiac Death, and Blesma a charity that supports military veterans who have lost limbs.
