Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition - to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, we will stop prostate cancer being a killer.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

This is a story of two ordinary blokes touched by prostate cancer. Ian caught it early via a routine medical and is now clear, Kevin never had that opportunity and only found out he had prostate cancer when it was too late and is now over 11 years into a 2 year terminal prognosis!

So the "Prostate Cancer Brothers" have decided to take on the mega challenge of running the iconic "Marathon Des Sables" in April 2026. This year as a 40th edition one off the race is a whopping 270k (170 miles) with a long non stop stage of 100k (62 miles), it is the longest edition ever and therefore the toughest.

This race takes place in the Sahara where the daily reaches 50c with sandstorms, huge endless sand dunes, grim terrain under foot , scorpions and plenty of other challenges. Its also self sufficient so we both carry our food, kit and sleeping bags on our back for the week.

You wont be surprised that we both think that Prostate Cancer UK is the most important charity that with your help will tame this indiscriminate family wrecking disease once and for all.

1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer in the UK and a man dies every 45 minutes of this disease, that's dads, grandads, husbands, sons, brothers, friends or colleagues taken too early so we ask that you do what you can to help us stop this disease in its tracks, thank you.
