Story

About 16 years ago, a small group of golfers from West Sussex Golf Club played 100 holes in a day to raise money for charity. Over the following 5 years, they increased the challenge so that in the last year, they played over 200 holes in a 24 hour period. This was to be their last hurrah. However, Russell Barton who came up with the initial idea and played in every challenge sadly passed away this year and another regular player, Patrick Curry succumbed to Covid. So, some of the original team decided to do it again and open it out to the broader membership of the club in 2022 and play for the Barton trophy. Such was the success of the day, we are repeating the Challenge in 2025

This year, fifty two golfers will attempt to play 100 holes of golf at the West Sussex Golf Club on Sunday 29th June in aid of two charities - The Mary How Trust and Cancerwise, helping support the Club Captains chosen charities for the year. The golfers will start at first light (4.15am) and play until they have completed 100 holes with trophy being awarded to the winning team. This will be a tough assignment and your support through donations to the two charities would be fantastic. (Please donate to either or both charities as all donations will be equalised so that the chosen charities receive equal amounts).

Good luck to all golfers taking part!
