Weakened Warriors

Thanks for visiting our team fundraising page.

So, here we are - the "Weakened Warriors" :) Seasoned hikers who share a passion for the outdoors. We've now come together to raise money for Oxfam & Gurkha Welfare Trust.

Trailwalker was originally started by the Queen's Gurkha Signals Regiment  in Hong Kong over 30 years ago as a training exercise to test soldiers' stamina and teamwork skills.

The challenge:

Distance: 100km non-stop across the South Downs
Time: In under 30 hours in teams of four.
Total ascent: 2,500m
When: 27-28 July, 2013

Istvan completed the Mt. Everest Base Camp trek in 2011 ascending upto 6500m in 2 weeks.

Lakshmi trekked up Camino del Inca in 2012. 55 miles in 4 days, ascending hand-hewn stone stairs (what the hell were the Incas thinking?!) upto 5000m in the Andes mountains, finally summiting Machu Pichu in torrential rain!

Other then your usual stuff, Martina hiked around hill-tribe villages in Northern Thailand for two days wearing boots one size too small, walked down trails in High Tatras on pitch black cold nights, or down and up the Grand Canyon in the middle of blasting hot summer.

Simon has enjoyed hiking since being a kid living in the Philippines with mountains trails all around. Other hikes include the Dolomites (with a mix of Via Ferrata), walking all over Morocco, and the three peaks in the UK.

As much big an achievement as this might all sound, 100k in 30 hrs is still a daunting prospect. It is the equivalent of 2.5 marathons non-stop. The course covers the same ascent as Ben Nevis and Snowdon combined.

There's a training plan, there are a few things to learn, so its going to be a busy summer.

What we are asking is for some help raising money for a cause. Your money will help Oxfam with:

1. Providing clean water and sanitation during emergencies
2. Funding long-term projects, in areas such as health or education, that help people work their way out of poverty.
3. Provide financial and medical aid to the most destitute Gurkhas, and to fund community aid projects in Nepal.

Thanks
