We are taking part in the inaugural Gill Pasco Tour, which is raising money for the Myeloma UK charity. Greg's mum Gill was diagnosed with myeloma in November 2010 and, after a brave fight against this rare and aggressive form of cancer, she died in June 2011 at the age of 67.

The Gill Pasco Tour 2012 follows a route that maps out the places where Gill lived. The route starts at "Suntrap", a building in Epping Forest that was used as a maternity hospital during WW2, where Gill was born. From there we will head to Beckton, where Gill's family lived during the war, and following a trip across the Thames on the Woolwich ferry, we will head to Crayford, where Gill lived until 1971.

As we leave Crayford we will hit the Kent countryside, on a "not very direct" route towards Margate, via Sevenoaks, the hills of Horsmonden and Goudhurst (look out for the Badger, Lee!), Headcorn and Charing. The first day ends at the campsite at Bekesbourne, just outside Canterbury.

Day 2 consists mostly of a tour of the Isle of Thanet, in particular Garlinge and Westbrook, where Gill spent most of her adult life. A quick visit to the new cultural centre of Margate seafront, will be followed by a spin along the coast to Westgate (home of the family beach hut in the 1980s) before heading inland again via Monkton and Sturry. One last coastal section between Herne Bay and Whitstable, leads on to the final stretch into Canterbury and then into Fordwich, where Gill lived for the last 15 years of her life.

The Gill Pasco Tour is a total of 250 km (160 on the first day, 90 on the second) and will take place on Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd July 2012.

The core of the riding team is made up of members of vcDAFT, the cycling wing of Dynamo Altstrasse Football Team (seen in the photo modelling their new kit on tour in Mallorca 2010).
