Story

JACK BOULTON MEMORIAL FUND

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page in memory of Jack our precious son and brother to Lucy.

Jack, who was 17, collapsed during football training in Saltford on August 19th 2009. Jack was a talented sportsman and had a bright academic future ahead of him. He attended the sixth-form at Wellsway School and played football for Keynsham and Saltford football clubs, cricket for Keynsham cricket club and was junior captain at Saltford golf club.

It's now over a year and we miss Jack so much. Details of the various fund-raising events are highlighted below. The total raised from a variety of sources is now over £25,000 and still growing, which is absolutely amazing. We intend to keep this page open for future donations, updates and events.

Keynsham Swimming Club donated £456.50 earlier this year which was raised during a swimming gala.

Sport Link (Keynsham) conducted a bag packing session at the Co-Op on Saturday 13 March. They have raised a total of £649.55 which is a tremendous effort. It was great to see volunteers of all ages taking part and our thanks also go to the shoppers for their kind generosity and the Co-Op for allowing it to happen.

Bath Half Marathon June and the Bath Half team completed the half marathon on Sunday 7 March and details can be found at  http://www.justgiving.com/June-Boulton.

Sarsen Trail - Sunday 2 May 2010 -  details of the 26 mile walk from Avebury to Stonehenge can be found at  http://www.justgiving.com/sarsenteam

Charity AmAm - Saltford Golf Club - Friday 25 June 2010 - Captain Barrie Morris's golf day raised a magnificent £2500. Many thanks to all participants and sponsors.

Charity Cricket Match - Sunday 4 July 2010 (Keynsham Club X1 (U25s) vs. Celebrity X1

Once again, the enthusiasm and support for this event was fantastic. The match itself was good fun and played in the right spirit and with the rather inclement weather arriving near the end, the match was declared an honourable draw !

The event was supported admirably by the bar and catering facilties and the hugely popular side activities such as the bouncy castle, golf chipping competition etc. From the various sources, including the raffle and the rather entertaining auction, KCC raised a sum to the order of £2000.

We'd like to thank everyone involved, KCC officials and players; invited celebrities; umpires; scorers; match commentator; music maestros including the Iron Mics (what a great sound); bar and catering; INsecurity staff; auctioneers; and the varous raffle and auction donations.

Tom Day Bike Ride  - Tom raised £70 by cycling with a group of friends from Millfield School - thanks Tom.

Jack's Golf Day - this event was held on Saturday 18 September at Saltford Golf Club and involved a gent, lady, senior and a junior playing in teams of 4. £100 raised and £40 donated by Keynsham Cricketers - thanks to Dave Phillips and everyone for taking part.

===========================================================================================

As you can see there is a lot going on and we are extremely grateful to all our family, friends, the various sports clubs, local communities, businesses and Wellsway School for your continued support.

We do apologise if we have failed to mention a particular fund-raising event but please be assured that all efforts and donations (small or large) are important to the cause and gratefully received.

You are all helping us stay strong.

Thanks and best regards

Dave, June & Lucy

==========================================================================================

On 10 October 2009, Saltford Golf Club held a very successful golf competition in Jack's memory. This involved all sections of the club and will be a regular fixture in the club's calendar.

A charity football game was held at Keynsham football club on Thursday, October 22. There was a mini game between Saltford and Keynsham and the main match was between Keynsham U18s and Saltord AFC. Both teams contained a few guest players from Keynsham Cricket Club. The games were played in the right spirit and the players enjoyed it too.

Thankfully, the weather was kind to us and the evening was a tremendous success. Spectator numbers are difficult to estimate but it doesn't matter the support on the night was fantastic.

We'd like to thank the football clubs and everyone involved in making the event a tremendous success. So much hard work went into it and everyone enjoyed the evening. Our special thanks go to Nigel & Denise Kay, players and officials from Keynsham FC; Chris Dudbridge, players and officials from Saltford AFC; members and supporters from Keynsham Cricket Club; Match officials; Chris Bennett for the Programmes; Carillion for the T shirts; Gary and Kristian Wright for the Burger van; the ladies and boys / girls for working tirelessly in collecting entrance money, running the bar, tea hut and selling raffle tickets; Danny Coles (Bristol Rovers) for drawing the raffle prizes; The Week In and Evening Post, Bath Chronicle for raising awareness; various organisations for their raffle donations; and finally Rotork as main sponsor.

Fundraising from the match will be donated to CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young). CRY is a national charity that is dedicated to saving the lives of young people through screening, research and raising awareness. We set an initial target of £5000 but with your help and a generous donation from Rotork we raised about £8500.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

The support and affection shown by family, friends and the respective communities has been overwhelming. If Jack could only see what everyone thought of him, he would be truly humbled !
