Story

The Longest Day Golf Challenge 2010

Charity - Manchester Royal Infirmary Intensive Care Unit (MRI ICU) and Macmillan Cancer Care http://www.justgiving.com/Macmillan-longestdaygolf)

Team Name – Weapons of Grass Destruction

Ryan and 3 friends are raising money for The Manchester Royal Infirmary Intensive Care Unit and Macmillans (http://www.justgiving.com/Macmillan-longestdaygolf). To raise money they are taking part in the Macmillans Longest Day Golf Challenge 2010.

On the 30th November 2009, Ryan's father Stewart Levene was taken ill and diagnosed with Pancreatitis and was taken to the The Manchester Royal Infirmary Intensive Care Unit. At the time Ryan's family had no idea what this illness was or its potential consequences. Unfortunately on the 5th Janurary 2010 Stewart passed away.

Ryan and his family saw the care his dad received whilst he was in intensive care for a month which obviously felt like an eternity to the Levene family. In that time they were able to see the wonderful work they do at the MRI ICU. They provide one to one care with some of the finest treatment in the world.

If you can donate even a penny they’d be greatful. Please help so they can continue providing such fantastic care for people in Stewart's position. If it wasn't for the ICU and the incredible staff, the Levene's may not have had an extra 30 days with Stewart. This may not sound like much time, but to them it was a lifetime which they will cherish forever.

The Challenge

To raise money for the ICU as well as Macmillans, Ryan and 3 friends (Jonny J, Stu Goldwater and Darren Loofe) have enterted the Longest Day Golf Challenge 2010, which consists of 4 rounds of Golf in one day!! Four rounds is the equivalent of walking approximately 20 miles or 35200 yards. On average they will be hitting 320 shots with 320 practice swings, more shots for certain members of the group! They will be doing this at Dunham Forest which was where Stewart played golf and loved spending time with his two sons, Ryan and Marc.
