Story
"My son has stammered since he was little, and as a parent, all I want is for him to grow up feeling confident in who he is and how he communicates. That’s why I'm sharing STAMMA's new campaign. Their video captures just how difficult something as simple as a phone call can be for someone who stammers - being interrupted, talked over, or hung up on."
Help support our campaign to end the nightmare that phone calls can be for people who stammer. Currently 65% of calls from people get mishandled.
Help us make sure businesses take accessibility seriously. And ensure that their voice recognition systems recognise stammered speech, and if they aren’t, they aren’t used.
Help us ensure that call agents are trained, so we aren’t hung up on or talked over. That it’s understood that saying our name is difficult.
Help us with the resources we need to make a real difference. So that children and young people no longer grow up in a hostile world – where stammering is seen as something to hide.

This is brilliant! I can never say my name and date of birth, so that's the first hurdle to get through and if it's an automated call it usually just hangs up because it can't understand me"
