Story

After the success of Jail or Bail in 2025, the event is back and we have fourteen local business leaders who have been charged with outrageous fictitious crimes and now face the fun-draising task of raising bail.

Our courageous 'jailbirds' have been charged with crimes such as: Persistent failure to post on my own social media while running everyone else’s like a criminal mastermind, reckless branding of anything that’s left stood still for more than 3 seconds and possession with intent to feed - repeatedly forcing coworkers to “just try a bite”.

Representing organisations including Original 106, AGCC and Spirit Energy each fantasy felon has stood before Sheriff Tierney and been found guilty. Bail has been set at a minimum of £1,000, payable to Maggie's, and now they have been sent down to contemplate their crimes and go about raising funds to pay their bail.

Having traded in their freedom for Maggie's they now must muster their powers of persuasion and call on the goodwill of their networks to raise funds to pay their bail. Their freedom and reputation depend on it.

Jail or Bail is intended to be a bit of fun with a serious intention - the important reason behind the event is to raise funds for Maggie's Aberdeen.

For many people living in the North East, Maggie's Aberdeen is a beacon of hope. Our centre offers a unique programme of practical and psychological support, available free of charge to people with cancer and everyone they love.

Maggie’s centres are places where people with cancer find the hope, determination, and resources they need to cope with one of the toughest challenges any of us is likely to have to face. Maggie’s Aberdeen is one of 28 Maggie's Centres across the UK providing support to anyone impacted by cancer.

The prisoners have until 3pm on Friday 20th of February to fundraise their way to freedom using their mobile phones, laptops and social media channels. Please note the pages will remain open for a short period after the event.

To help raise bail (make a donation) in support of your favourite convict, please visit their fundraising page - see 'Fundraisers', on RHS of this page (we also take donations to keep them in)!

Thank you for supporting Jail or Bail, your kindness and generosity will make an incredible difference to people with cancer.
