In 2026, the team at LCap's Empowering Women Network will be undertaking various fundraising activities to raise vital funds for Prevent Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK for women. Every year, over 56,800 individuals are diagnosed – that is 156 people a day. Each year we lose 11,500 to this disease. For us, that is 11,500 too many.

They are raising money to go towards the Prevent Breast Cancer Research Unit, a world-leading hub that will unite Manchester’s extraordinary research talent, extensive datasets and valuable biological samples to drive forward discovery, innovation and training in breast cancer prevention.

The Prevent Breast Cancer Research Unit will be the beating heart of prevention research, centralising resources, empowering researchers, training the next generation and accelerating the science that could one day make breast cancer a disease of the past.
