Story
Another disaster has hit Beirut today. We are all in shock witnessing the massive explosion that happened at the sea port of Beirut on 4 August 2020.
"The extent of the damages is devastating. Beirut tonight sleeps wounded and on shattered glass and rubble"
Our brothers and sisters in Lebanon have been suffering through a difficult financial crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic. Around half a million children in Beirut are struggling for survival or going hungry as families are increasingly unable to afford basic food items and other essentials such as electricity, cooking fuel, hygiene items, medicine and water. The Beirut explosion only makes things worse.
During a time that Lebanon is paying 3-4 more for food than it does normally. This is going to result in more hardship for the people there so we MUST do what we can to help. We are calling on the world, our friends, our fellow Lebanese in the diaspora to donate to this relief fund.
Human Appeal has launched an emergency appeal to support those affected by the massive explosion that ripped through Beirut on Tuesday. We will be allocating £50,000 to ensure that people who need emergency assistance receive it as soon as possible.
Dr Mohamed Ashmawey, Human Appeal CEO said
Our hearts go out to the people of Beirut and Lebanon as a whole, who once again are experiencing a level of suffering that no human should. At Human Appeal, we know through our work in Lebanon just how precarious the situation was before this tragedy, and so we will do absolutely everything we can to help the people of Beirut to recover. Please consider giving what you can to help the relief effort and to help people rebuild their lives. Lebanon needs us now more than ever.
