Organised by LOOK UKThis summer walk, jog, run or go for a stroll, every mile you move will help us keep on mentoring for miles! We challenge you to get your feet moving in support of our pioneering peer mentoring programme, working to create community and connection.
LOOK is a small but mighty charity, supporting visually impaired (VI) young people and their families to thrive. Receiving a diagnosis of sight loss in childhood can be incredibly tough, with many barriers to overcome, but LOOK is here to help ensure that nobody faces this challenge alone. We are working hard to create a world in which all visually impaired young people are valued, included and can live their best lives. Join us!
LOOK has a fantastic team of 150 volunteer VI mentors who support younger peers through the highs and lows of living with sight loss. They use their lived experience to give top tips and insider knowledge that no teacher or professional can.
LOOK is a charity and our services are offered free of charge. We are reliant on funds from the public to keep going. This is where you come in. Whether you or your family have been helped by LOOK, you volunteer for us, or you are completely new to our community, we would love you to get involved in our summer fundraising challenge.
This summer challenge begins on August 1st and ends on August 31st, 2024.
Set your own pace and get your feet moving to help us clock #MilesForMentoring!
You can take part in any location you like, at any time, and at any pace. You could jog on a treadmill, go on long hikes, stroll some laps of your favourite park, or a blend of whatever works best for you.
You can buddy up with other members of the LOOK community, you can walk with friends, family and colleagues, or you can go solo - it’s up to you. We are with you every step of the way!

£5 helps pay for our parent/carer helpline - offering support and guidance to people who care for a VI child
£50 helps keep our support groups going, providing a ‘life-line’ of community and connection
£100 pays for an online forum or panel event, sharing expertise, experience and top tips
£200 pays to train a new VI LOOK mentor
£500 covers the costs of running a workshop in a VI child’s school, to boost awareness and inclusion
£1000 pays for a family of four to attend LOOKfest, our ground-breaking VI-accessible weekend festival
£2000 pays for one year’s LOOK mentoring support for a VI young person and their parent/carer
