Grief Encounter aims to relieve the emotional distress of bereaved children, young people and their families. We help by developing and promoting resources and by raising public awareness of bereavement issues for children. No-one can wave a magic wand but Grief Encounter can help the journey.

Story

Every step they run helps a grieving child take a step forward.

When a child experiences the death of a parent or loved one, their whole world can fall apart. Grief can affect everything – from mental health and relationships to school attendance and daily life. That’s why our Royal Parks Half Marathon team is running: to raise £20,000 to fund life-changing, one-to-one bereavement support for children who are struggling to cope.

This support transforms lives. One parent told us:

“Since Grief Encounter’s support, my son has returned to school with a spring in his step and has attended every day. He told me, ‘When Dad died I was 90% broken, and now I feel 10% broken.’ I really can’t thank Grief Encounter enough.”

Your donation will help provide specialist therapy to more children like him — when they need it most.

Please support our runners and help grieving children find hope, healing, and the strength to move forward.
