The
COVID-19 pandemic has had a catastrophic
effect on the ability of charities to raise much-needed
funds, due to the cancellation of thousands of
events and the loss of billions in fundraised income. Like many, our biggest immediate challenge is a financial one as CHECT is facing a situation where over half of our income from fundraising events this year may simply disappear due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We had been looking forward to July 11, the day when we would meet up with CHECT families, supporters and fundraisers, to spend time together in Regent's Park and cheer on our wonderful #TeamCHECT as they ran either 5K or 10K in such beautiful surroundings. We had been thrilled to be chosen as the charity partner for the event and were hoping for our biggest CHECT turnout yet for this third year. However, this won't now be happening. Royal Parks are all closed for mass gatherings, understandably, at this time.
Undaunted, however, the RunThrough Regent's Park has now become a virtual event. We will still be cheering on our CHECT team, but from our own homes - our runners will be running their chosen distance at an open space near them, maintaining physical distancing.
Please support them in their quest to raise funds for CHECT, to help us continue our work supporting UK families affected by retinoblastoma (Rb). Cancer doesn't stop for Covid-19.
