Story
The children’s hospice for short, precious lives.
When a child isn’t going to live a long life, every single day matters. Rainbows is the children’s hospice for the East Midlands, and we’re here to help families make the most of the time they have, with expert palliative and end-of-life care, and the freedom to choose how and where that care happens. At home, in hospital or at our hospice, we’re here whenever we’re needed, for families across Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire.
Just 15% of our funding comes from the government, so almost everything we do depends on the generosity of people like you.
‘The care and love we received was unbelievable. Any time day or night there was a friendly face, sympathetic ear and at times a much needed hug’
About Rainbows
Everything we do at Rainbows is guided by a clear purpose, to brighten short lives. We’re here for every child we care for, and for the families who love them. Our mission, vision and values shape how we work every day, and how we make sure families get the very best of us, wherever they need us.
The unique needs of each baby, child and family are at the centre of everything we do. Our mission is to support them in the setting where they feel most comfortable, working alongside other professionals to provide care, create opportunities and make meaningful memories through illness, death and bereavement.
Every day, we brighten short lives by providing the Rainbows Experience wherever it’s needed. We’re a source of expert care, practical support and compassion, but our purpose goes beyond that. It’s about helping families to thrive, to seize every moment together and to create memories to hold close today and tomorrow.
