St Richard’s Hospice is an independent charity offering free, expert care for adults with an illness that cannot be cured, and support for their loved ones and carers. Each year the hospice team supports more than 3,100 patients, family members and bereaved people in Worcestershire.

Story

Setting off in early morning in Bewdley around and finishing by night fall in Malvern, for the annual 31 hilly miles in a day challenge (for the mad walkers!), but new in 2024, we also offered the same walk over 2 days, with camping at the 20 mile point!

Last year, 135 people took part raising in excess of £28,400 after costs, to fund its valuable work. Although some of the terrain will be challenging, walkers will enjoy the beautiful Worcestershire countryside and certainly finish with a great sense of achievement.

St Richards Hospice relies on donations to fund our free care and are extremely grateful to all those in the community who support us so we can continue our work helping patients and families when they need us most.

Please know that your very kind donation and belief will ensure each walker can complete their challenge and it will help them every step of the way.

St Richards Hospice provides free specialist palliative care for patients living with life-limiting illnesses and supports their loved ones. Each year the hospice team supports over 3,300 patients and family members in Worcestershire. The hospice strives to provide the best medical, practical, emotional and social support we can, to help people live life to the fullest, as independently as they can, for as long as they can.

More and more people need hospice care across the county every day. Our community is living much longer, often with multiple, complex conditions for which there is no cure. We know that the number of patients and their families who will need us is only going to continue to keep rising.

Our costs keep rising too and, sadly, this financial year we will bring in around a million pounds less than we will spend. Government funding only covers around 20% of our costs. As a charity it means we need to raise £9.6 million of the £12 million we need to keep vital services running this year for Worcestershire families.
