Over the past 72 hours, a massive escalation in violence has resulted in the deaths of more than 250 people, including many children. Homes and hospitals have been destroyed by airstrikes and for the few lucky enough to survive the fury of airstrikes - there is nowhere safe to hide. Eastern Ghouta has been completely besieged since 2016, sealed off from the world, aid agencies are rarely able to gain access to this area. Residents of Eastern Ghouta are locked into their town with nowhere left to flee the onslaught from the sky. Starvation and malnutrition are both rife, claiming the lives of civilians year after year, as supplies run dry and aid agencies are unable to gain access to the area.
Over the years our work in Eastern Ghouta has been both challenging but essential, and now our work is needed more than ever. Our team are now providing food and essentials to families who have been forced to flee from Eastern Ghouta.
