Story

C.A.A.R. is a CPR & AED Awareness Ride to thank some of the organisations that were part of Dave Cleland's cardiac arrest survival story in 2021.
As such, we will be cycling a route around Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire taking in many of the locations associated with the East Anglian Ambulance Service (EEAST), Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS), East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) and Royal Papworth Hospital, all of which played a part in my Chain of Survival.
The ride itself will be raising funds for SARS & EAAA, both of which are charities that bring critical care clinicians to the patient and receive no regular government funding. The Royal Papworth Hospital Charity supports the work of Papworth by providing additional amenities for its patients and their families and funds Papworth’s pioneering research activity and vision for the future. In addition to these local charities, we will be supporting the British Heart Foundation which is the major funder of a large range of research projects looking to improve the outcomes for those who suffer from a heart condition.
There are various ways that you can join in.
You can simply help us publicise the ride to family and friends and stressing the importance of learning CPR and AED skills.
You could come along and cheer us along the way. Each day of the ride we will let you know where we expect to be at various points in the day.
If you are living with a heart condition, have had an SCA or know someone who has, then why not come and meet us for a quick talk. We know how important it is to meet others who have been through the same experience.
Finally, if you are fit and think that you can cycle for 2 hours or more at a reasonable pace, then drop us a line as we can see if this is viable.
Each charity we are supporting is a Team Member. To donate to one or more of the charities we are supporting, select the appropriate charity link.

Donate through the links below or using the team member links against the current totals. Please DO NOT DONATE TO the ”Dave Cleland” team member, which is just another redundant donation for the BHF that some people have managed to pick up and I cannot get rid of.
Donate to SARS
Donate to EAAA
Donate to Royal Papworth Charity
Donate to BHF
Due to issues with setting up a Just Giving team, some donations are recorded against a range of fundraising pages which all appear against the Dave Cleland team member profile.
Please DON’T DONATE TO THE DAVE CLELAND PROFILES as you cannot see which charity the money is going to from the team page. From 7th September these will close to donations.
