Story
The team at Donner Optometrists in Bookham has set itself the challenge to raise money for two amazing charities; Vision Care for Homeless People and Crohn's & Colitis UK by walking the Surrey Three Peaks Challenge on Saturday 6th May 2023!
Our small team at Bookham, always committed to delivering the highest standard of eye care to all of its' patients, came together at the very beginning of the year to think about how we could give something back. Some of us are sporty and others not so much, so for this reason we felt a walk would be a bit more accessible! The Surrey Three Peaks Challenge takes about half a day and goes on for 33.5 kilometers, passing through some of the gorgeous Surrey countryside.

Vision Care for Homeless People is an inspiring organisation who offer free eye care and spectacles to those on the very fringes of society. Perhaps many of us do not think about the eye sight of the homeless, but they, just like everyone else, need to be able to see in the distance and to read, need regular checks to ensure their ocular health and need to be able to get specs if necessary! VCHP work tirelessly on this front and our manager has volunteered with them in the past.
Our choice of Crohn's and Colitis is also personal. A member of our team has a son who suffers from the disease and, naturally, it is vitally important to her (and the rest of us!) to fund research that goes towards finding better treatments and even a cure.
Please give generously to our plucky and determined team as we prepare for the event!
