300 Miles in 30 Days
A Virtual Tour of Cumbria
Throughout June, 12 Trustees from Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice will embark on a 300 mile Virtual Tour of Cumbria to raise money for the hospice.
During this period of lockdown, exercise is providing to be a significant benefit to our health and wellbeing. The Trustees have set themselves a group fundraising challenge to run, walk, ride or cycle the boundary line of Cumbria during the month of June.
The Trustees have been active behind-the-scenes during this time in supporting senior management and nursing staff to ensure that the hospice can continue to provide the highest quality, compassionate care and support to patients and families.
Income, like that of other hospices across the country, is under huge pressure because of the impact of Covid-19. The ability to fundraise have been significantly affected as retails shops have had to close, events cancelled and many people who were planning on supporting us at work, at school, at home and elsewhere have had to suspend fundraising activities.
Starting from the hospice on Durdar Road in Carlisle, the journey will head west to follow the coast down to the south of the county. Upon reaching Barrow-in-Furness we will travel through Ulverston en-route to Kendal and head up the Eden Valley Hospice before arriving back in Carlisle. Whilst ‘on the road’ we will make a few diversions to visit the hospice’s shops and provide interesting facts and figures along the way to demonstrate the reach and impact the hospice has in Cumbria.
