Heidi, Jane and Melanie have been friends in Salisbury for over 15 years and decided to combine forces to fundraise for Salisbury District Hospital's charity - the Stars Appeal.

The three of us are going to leave our families for 10 days in April 2021 to join a group of other supporters to trek 100km across Jordan to Petra. We expect this to be a challenge on many levels, not just the training to make sure we can cover the distance but also camping en route, no hot showers and lots of sand!

Over the years we and our friends and families have directly benefited from the extra things, funded by the Stars Appeal, which really help when dealing with hospital treatment: from specialist equipment for premature babies, refurbishment of the breast cancer unit and free wifi for patients, to a new CT scanner that speeds up diagnosis for thousands of local people and proper beds for parents to sleep in next to their sick child.

We must raise at least £3300 each to join the trek. This total covers costs of £1,650 matched by another £1650 to the Stars Appeal. Of course we’ll be paying for all our equipment, insurance and personal spending ourselves, as well as the registration fee of £399 each. Any additional money we raise over our £3300 target will also go straight to the Stars Appeal.
