Story
We did it!
Sunday September 15th: It was a beautiful morning in Clapham Common! The team gathered amongst hundreds of other riders, some nervous, but mostly excited by the adventure of a team ride, and that infamous Ditchling climb.
They pedalled thier hearts out for hours, for 55 miles, for thier team mates, for Amar who inspired them to cycle alongside him and for teens and young adults who need our help.
Well done to the team and a big thank you to all our supporters who cheered us through weeks of training and on the big day, and to each and every one of you who donated to Kidney Care. You have all helped to make a huge difference to young adults and teens diagnosed with kidney disease so that they can get the support and mentoring they need to build a new life around kidney disease.
WE'RE STILL FUND RAISING! If you have a message for the team or would like to help us reach our fundraising target, please click on donate. Every bit helps! Thank you.
_______
YPO is taking on the London to Brighton Cycle challenge for the second time - this time, bigger and better! We have an incredible team of 40 riders who have been preparing over the summer for the big day along with a few teens, friends & family.
This event is not just about challenging those taking part but also about making a positive impact on the lives of others.
On 15 September 2024, Amar Radia, a Trustee of Kidney Care and one of the longest-surviving kidney patients, is marking nearly 3 decades on dialysis by taking on this challenge. Joined by friends, family and the YPO team, he is helping to raise money to support the vital work of Kidney Care.
Good Luck to the Team!

Amar's Story
Amar was diagnosed with kidney failure when he was just a teenager, away from home at university. Cycling between lectures, doctors and ever-harsher treatment, he was told he would eventually lose his kidneys and have to rely on dialysis to stay alive. Doctors explained that at best, he would have 5 years.
This time is a very painful memory for me as I struggled to cope with the physical challenges of kidney failure and the daunting prospect of what lay ahead. Although supported by my family, I felt I was alone in a world that no one else really understood.
Amar was devastated and ill-equipped to deal with the physical and mental challenges; an experience that he wants to change for other kidney patients so that they don't have to face this journey alone.
We need your help to ensure that Kidney Care can continue to provide vital support, and guidance to young adults and teenagers coping with kidney failure and life on dialysis, something Amar desperately wishes he had all those years ago
Please help us raise £50,000 to support Kidney Care's Young Adult Kidney Group programme. The funds will be used to provide support, mentorship, and counselling for 60 young dialysis and kidney patients.
Your support, large or small, will be hugely appreciated and will help make a real difference.
Thank you to everyone who supported us last year. It was a fantastic ride, and all of us made it to the finish line. (Highlights below.)
