Welcome to Wag & Company's Simplyhealth Great North Run 2019 JustGiving page!

Wag & Company is the only visiting dog charity to visit the elderly in their own homes as well as in care or medical establishments.

Our aim is to reduce loneliness in older dog lovers right across the North East of England and to ensure that no older person misses friendship and the company of a dog.

Our amazing #TeamWag runners will be helping to achieve this when they take part in the Great North Run 2019 raising the funds to enable more and more befriending Visiting Wag Teams improving the lives of lonely elderly dog lovers in our region.

Since we started in 2016, Visiting Wag Teams have made more than 33,000 friend visits benefitting over 1,600 people and making a world of difference with each visit. A lovely example of this is our friend John Robson.

John lost his wife of 64 years, Nora, 2 years ago and they had already lost his son and his 20-year-old border terrier Mick. So other than his granddaughter, who doesnt live close by, he found himself bereaved and alone. John told us that when Nora died he looked around him at four walls and thought his life was empty. Sean and Alfie the Labrador started visiting 6 months ago and now John tells everyone who will listen that his new friends give him such a wonderful lift, "its been like winning the Pools!".
