As I am 40 next year I have decided to undertake a whole load of challenges, some physical, some mental, some silly and some serious.
I have decided to set myself these challenges to go in to my 40’s on a positive note being a stronger and improved version of myself. I also want to face fear and doubt and prove to myself that I can do things I never thought I could or at least struggle with.
I will be doing one big challenge that will last until my 40th birthday on 25th June 2019 and that will be giving up booze!! Yes, some of you might think that is going to be impossible and yes, I think it’s going to be bloody hard but I am determined I will be able to do it (with your support). Not only will it be better for my health but for my pocket as well. As many of you know I do enjoy a drink but I think it’s really important for me to do this for a personal challenge but also it will have a positive effect on my every day life. I am by no means an alcoholic but waking up with a cloudy head after a few glasses of wine a few times a week and the odd mammoth hangover after a bender easily sets me back a good few days (probably because I am getting older). Also the sense of achievement when I come to the end of it will be epic.
I will also be completing 11 30 day challenges, so every month I will do something every day for 30 days and these will include: Random acts of kindness, No caffeine, write a letter to a friend, 12,000 steps a day, Yoga, No sugar, 40 Squats, Sit ups and Push ups, Go Vegan (no eggs which for me will be bloody difficult, I love eggs!!) and Headstand. I have some other ideas but please suggest any you think would be good.
And the 3rd part of my challenge will be to do a one off challenges each month. I haven’t work out the full details as yet and the list isn’t definite but will look something like this: Tough Mudder, Plant 100 Trees, Paragliding or Parachute (possibly in India), 3 Peaks, Open Water Swimming, Spend 24hrs somewhere remote with not phone or technology, Triathlon, Zip Wire (Wales) or Infinity Bridge (Cumbria), Write & Perform a Song/Poem and a Silent Retreat. Please let me know if you can think of any other good ones!
As you can see there is a whole load of challenges to be completed, some easier then others but all will test me one way or another. I will welcome what ever support you can offer and if there are any you want join in with me then that would be amazing.
