Weʼre raising £1,500 to help fund a safe and accessible garden for William in their forever home

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

William, my grandchild is 11 years old and recently moved into their forever home with his Mum.

William has Autism Spectrum Disorder alongside Developmental Coordination Disorder which means his mobility is quite limited and he struggles with balance and movement as well as social and communication difficulties.

Previously they have always lived in private rent accommodation with no access to a garden.

In January of this year they moved into a housing association property after been on the waiting list for years. A semi detached house with a gravel front and garden space out the back.

Between us we have managed to get the inside space into a home and William has absolutely bloomed and is so content since moving there.

My daughter has been working hard to get the back garden in order but the space out the back has been badly neglected over a number of years.

The garden is overgrown with deep rooted weeds and the soil has is made up of patches of solid clay or marshy ground covered in moss.

There was a broken shed ripped out prior to her tenancy that left a large patch of hard rock.

The fencing is rotten and gives no privacy at all from the roundabout through the fence and the communal block next door.

No matter how hard her efforts though, the garden will not be suitable for William to access. His difficulties mean that even level ground can be challenging and the lawn that they have is extremely uneven and would require an unbelievable amount of labour and tools to attempt to get it level.

For that reason I would like to ask for your help and support to help fund a decked level area that he can make good use of any enjoy for years to come.

It would be an amazing opportunity for William to enjoy being outside without his Mum being worried about more trips and falls and injuries and would require little maintenance.

Thank you to all and take care.

We have been making contact with some people to get quotes and turn the inspiration into real ideas. Thought we would share one of the shortlist pictures (minus the fire of course) William is so excited and decided that a extra large bean bag pillow is on his most wanted list so he can lounge about in the garden. It's amazing how generous everyone has been and certainly brought a little excitement 🥰
