Weʼre raising £100 to help CLAPA fund more welcome packs for new parents who have a new baby with a cleft lip and/or palate
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
In February 2016 my daughter Hannah was born with a condition called Pierre Robin Sequence. This means she was born with a recessed jaw, an almost non existent tongue and a cleft palate. CLAPA helps new parents by providing the Cleft team with specialist bottles. The bottles we had to use on Hannah was squeeze bottles. Babies with a cleft palate are unable to create the vacuum in order to suck a bottle. She spent her first 22 days in neonatal and was fed via a feeding tube for 4 months. She had her palate repaired at 10 months old. She will always face problems in her life but is so strong minded that she sails through.
We are wanting to Raise money for CLAPA to say thank you for their support. The money raised will help them provide more bottles to the Cleft team as well as provide free welcome packs to all new families (these inc an extra bottle)
I am holding an online auction between the 27th July and 29th July on my page
In the UK 1 in 700 babies are born with a cleft lip and/or palate each year
1 in 14,500 babies (around 50) are born with Pierre robin sequence (PRS)
