Thank you for your interest in the Fibro 5 Challenge.
Did you know that 1 in 20 of us could have Fibromyalgia and or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? That means someone in your family could have it now or in the future!
Fibromyalgia is a chronic illness with symptoms of widespread chronic pain, chronic fatigue, fibro fog (brain fog), IBS and sleep disturbances amongst a long list of other symptoms and conditions.
How do you get Fibromyalgia? As there is no identifiable cause then there is no cure. However, it has been narrowed down to Fibromyalgia being triggered by a virus or emotional or physical trauma. It has also been found to be hereditary.
Fibro Active is a support group that aims to raise awareness of the chronic illness as well as support our members by focusing on healthy lifestyle, light exercise and sharing information as well as educating members about their condition and help them move forward with their acceptance and management of the illness.
We incorporate the 5 ways to wellbeing in everything that we do. We have our own 5 ways to fibro wellbeing called the Fibro 5. To help raise awareness and sustain the group we are organising a wellbeing event called the Fibro 5 Challenge.
The Fibro 5 Challenge is a 5K family and dog walk with small challenges around the course that incorporates the 5 ways to wellbeing. The venue is West Park, Long Eaton, Derbyshire on Sunday 30th September from 11am to 2pm. There will be a wellbeing village on the event field where local organisations, groups and services can connect with people in the community.
We are hoping for one or two demonstrations of Tai Chi for Arthritis. To find out more about the event and to register for the Fibro 5 Challenge go to fibroactive.co.uk and to keep up to date with the event as it develops, please like our Facebook page: Fibro 5 Challenge.
For some of our participants this will be a new challenge so we would like to invite you to be sponsored by your friends and family who will recognise your efforts and help us achieve our target together.
