Story

I want to become a leading force to create positive social change using the therapeutic tools of theatre to inspire and make a fundamental difference to individual lives especially children. I believe that theatre has the potential to change lives and should be accessible for everyone regardless of background. It can help to tackle sensitive issues in the third person or talk about situations which maybe too difficult to discuss directly.

I’m incredibly grateful that I have been able to use theatre to overcome obstacles in my own life and I want to share this tool with others. Throughout my work I want to create a safe, comfortable environment, one, which is inclusive and open to everyone to practically engage with, creating new relevant approaches for change. This is one that is not an escape from reality but which is a journey enabling transformation to discover the true self. I believe that no one need suffer alone or be held back by circumstances they have been born into or are currently facing. I believe that each person has an inner potential and through support in taking personal responsibility regardless of circumstances has the ability to change past experiences. I want to be this support and positive influence to whomever I encounter. I strongly feel that this needs to be delivered in a fun manner, the use of laughter and enjoyment are an important part of any work I do in this field.

I have been working for the past 10 years of creating & facilitating drama workshops for adults & young people in various organisations and educational settings as well as making my own theatre performances. I have previously taught workshops & delivered projects in the UK, Germany and South Africa. In particular working with adults and children who have social, emotional and mental health needs and are at risk of isolation from mainstream society. I'm now ready to move my career forward and the next step is to train as a dramatherapist.

This type of work is deeply fulfilling for me on a personal level. I am keen to introduce the arts to people who have little or no engagement with it. Dramatherapy enables me to combine my two passions. I have been offered a place to train to be a dramatherapist at Derby University in September 2018 and unfortunately I need some support to ensure I can attend the course. The money I raise will go directly to covering part of my fees. I am not eligible for any funding programmes due to personal circumstances. I would be extremely grateful for any help you can offer no matter how small to support me on my journey.

My long term aim as a Dramatherapist is to set up my own practice working in my local community in UK whilst also setting up international projects in particular in Africa which I have always felt a strong connection to. I was extremely fortunate to have been chosen to take part in a volunteer project 2009. I supported the community in Mamre a village in South Africa for 2 months. My dream is to return to Africa equipped with dramatherapy skills to work and support children who have experienced trauma due to circumstances beyond their control.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your support.

Had such a good day today, working with some incredible young people at a school in Sheffield. They have decided to tackle the issue of bullying in their community and I couldn't be happier that they have chosen to create a drama piece aimed at local primary aged children both those that have been bullied or that might be bully. These young people are inspiring me to be a better person, so grateful and want to be able to give more by developing my skills in Dramatherapy to be able to create value share for more people. Please donate if you can

I had a great week with the lovely young people I've been fortunate to be working with. We made t-shirts with our future goals on, they had amazing ideas: interpreter, astro physicist, volunteering in developing countries and many more. I love working with them, I'm feel so grateful for having this opportunity to create value through my work. I need your help to support me to be able to develop and use my skills further. If you are able to donate £5 -10 I would be really thankful. Check out for photos http://bit.ly/2wWobou
