Story

My name is Natasha Chaffey, I am 24 years old and I have a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy. I get around on my motorised wheelchair and like to get out as much as I can.

For the last 15 years I have had the company of my therapy Daschaund 'Honey' sat on my lap. She helps ease my anxiety of being out of my comfort zone and enables me to keep calm and not get anxious in busy places. She even came with me to LEGOLAND last year.

She has been affectionate and loving for so long. Just having her next to me and being able to hug her is all I need to keep calm most days, but now she is getting old and sadly becoming incontinent. I feel that it's time to let her retire and relax at home more. Honey will be a great teacher for a new therapy puppy, she is patient, loyal and calm.

The thought of not having the comfort of a dog on my lap from the moment I get up is quite upsetting but I can not afford to do this on my own. I know it's time to start the process to find my new special friend.

UPDATE!...

In the process of looking for a suitable breed with a good temperament, that would stay small enough to sit on my lap I fell in love! We came across a Mi-Ki, I initially went to the breeders to see the temperaments and size of the adult Mi-Ki's and she happened to have two puppies left. Well...after lots of cuddles and the little female puppy falling asleep on my lap straight away, I knew I had to have her. She was so calm and chilled out, and we connected instantly.

A very kind and generous family friend loaned my parents the money to get the dog for me, so I will be using the funds raised to help pay them back.

Meet Fayette! (it means little fairy). I accidentally fell in love with this little pupper when visiting the breeder while I was researching suitable breeds. She is perfect! We connected instantly, she is so calm and loving and I knew right away that she was ment to be part of my family. A very kind and generous family friend loaned us the money to get her so I will be using the monies raised to pay back the loan. Thank you so much to all those who have donated so far!

Hi! I'm Natasha, I'm 24 years old & I have a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy. I get around on my motorised wheelchair & like to get out as much as I can. I also suffer with anxiety so I have a therapy dog called Honey, unfortunately Honey is 15 now & will need to retire soon.
