Royal pageantmaster Bruno Peek will forever be indebted to the Queen for the years of amazing experiences he has enjoyed helping her commemorate key milestones, from VE Day anniversaries to Jubilee celebrations.
Bruno owes his life to the NHS after nearly dying of a heart attack and now he wants to pay it back by establishing an annual NHS, Social Care and Frontline Workers Day when the endeavours and sacrifices made by so many during the battle against coronavirus are acknowledged in a coordinated show of gratitude. The event, to be held annually on the NHS's birthday, July 5, will also honour those who died of Covid-19, a toll that currently stands at over 45,000.
The Daily Express joins NCA and Bruno in his campaign to launch NHS, Social Care and Frontline Workers Day as a tribute to all those who have lost their lives.
National Care Association are very proud to be part of celebration and look forward to be able to pay ‘tribute’ and celebrate our frontline workers.
We would like to encourage the involvement of management and staff in care homes to participate with organising an afternoon tea on 5th July 2021, for residents, a very simple, but meaningful way of ensuring they all feel part of this celebration.
There will be a synchronised cutting of a cake in all care services at 4pm on the 5th July. The recipe for the cake has been created especially for the occasion by the Women’s Institute and is available on the website.
Funds raised by this fundraising page will provide wellbeing support to those who spend their working lives caring for the vulnerable.
