I am running the Edinburgh Half Marathon on May 26, 2019 in memory of Katie Allan. Her family and legal team and raising money for an end to prisoner suicide and much-needed reform to Scottish Prisons. I want to help. You can read about their story and campaign here.

I taught Katie during her years as a geography student at the University of Glasgow. She was a cracking lass, brimming with potential, and full of life. Her death has weighed heavily on me—since it was so preventable. And so needless.

I agree with Linda and Stuart: we can do better. Let's make sure no more lives are wasted in Scottish prisons.

I didn’t know Katie myself, I heard her story from my friends who are the parents of Katie’s friend Lewis, I was and am heartbroken and outraged at what happened. This cannot happen again. Good work.

Thank you for telling me Katie’s story as we ran through Portobello this morning. I haven’t lived in the UK recently & didn’t know about her. I’m horrified by what I’ve read. Such a needless tragedy.
