Weʼre raising £2,000 to help send urgently needed medical textbooks to the University of Mosul Medical College
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Students for Global Health is a UK student network with over 30 branches in the UK. We are the representative body of all UK medical students to the International Federation of Medical Students. We have received a request from out friends from IFMSA-Kurdistan.
One of their Medical schools, the Mosul Medical College, has been destroyed completely during the war against ISIS. They say that “most of the buildings are gone, but the students’ spirits are still high”. They are hoping to resume studies after the war and the University of Mosul has just started receiving students again. However, the university library has been destroyed, causing a major problem.
Therefore IFMSA-Kurdistan is coordinating a book donation project. We advertised this project to our members towards the beginning of May 2018 and we have been overwhelmed by the support, kindness and engagement with this campaign and with our members generosity we have already collected many books to send to the University of Mosul.
Sending one large (120 x 80 x 80 cm) box of books will cost in the region of £2,000. We are hoping to raise part of this sum so that we can help the University of Mosul to quickly rebuild and resume the medical education and it's facilities.
We would like to say a big thank you to all of our members already for their generosity with this campaign and a thank you in advance for the donations to help us get these books to Mosul.
