Weʼre raising £12,000 to fund the rent on a suitable property in Pocklington for one year for a young lady with complex physical and learning disabilities.

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
This is Emi. She is 17 years old and she suffers from infantile refsums disease, an inherited condition that involves complex physical disabilities including impaired vision and hearing loss, as well as learning disabilities. However, she does not let that stop her from enjoying life. She loves swimming, playing, cooking, gardening, being outside, music, trampolining, and horse riding.
However, this lovely young lady will turn 18 in September and her family need to find somewhere suitable for her to live locally (preferably in Pocklington where she can access facilities and be part of the community), otherwise she will have to go into residential care, the nearest suitable location being in Manchester. It would be devastating for both Emi and her family for her to be forced to live so far away.
Ideally, Emi needs to find a home that is accessible and could accommodate her, plus all her equipment, as well as physio and educational space, and bedrooms for 2 carers. Emi’s family home is not suitable for her needs and the family are desperate to find a solution which allows Emi to continue to live close by but for her to have a degree of independence and to be integrated into the community.
We recognise that this is not going to happen immediately and the search for a permanent suitable home for Emi is ongoing. However, this fundraising campaign is to try and raise enough money (£1000 per month for 1 year) to pay rent on a property in Pocklington that, whilst it may not initially meet all her needs, would mean that Emi is able to stay close to home until a longer-term solution can be found.
