Story
On 1st January 2026,
I’ll begin the Peace of Mind Charity Walk 2026 — a journey of more than 2,000 miles. Starting at the northern tip of the Shetland Islands, I’ll walk through Scotland, England, and Wales, before crossing into Ireland and finishing at its southern coast. It will take around 6–7 months, starting in the middle of winter, with all the challenges that brings.
Why am I doing this?
Because for over 40 years I’ve lived with bipolar disorder, depression, addiction, and dyslexia. Some days it has been about simply putting one foot in front of the other. This walk is a symbol of that — a reminder that however tough things get, it may still be possible to move one step forward.
I am raising money for four brilliant charities:
• SAMH (Scotland) – supporting people across Scotland for over 100 years.
• Mind (England & Wales) – ensuring no one has to face a mental health problem alone.
• Aware (NI) – A Derry-born charity, an established network of 24 support groups across the country, alongside an online support option.
• Aware (Ireland) – providing education, support, and hope for people living with depression, anxiety, and bipolar.
This walk is about connection, courage, and hope. Every step is in support of the vital work these charities do every day.
Thank you for walking with me.
